As the carpet price increase several carpet aspects also change.  One thing is that as the price increase, the tuft density or pile weight increase.  A more dense carpet is more resistant to wear and tear and tend to last more over the years.  Another aspect that gets better as price increase is the secondary backing; as the price increase the backing becomes reinforced with fiber glass and tougher materials.

Another parameter that’s improves as the price becomes more expensive is the pile height; a higher pile height means softer and more comfortable but this relates more to residential carpets.  Lastly and one of the most important is the fiber material improves and gets better as the price increase.  Cheaper carpet material is one that only last for 3-5 years that’s made of Polyester.  Mid-range carpet last 5-10 years are usually made of Olefin/Polypropylene (PP).  And the king of fiber that last more than 10 years is 100% Nylon.  Nylon is a synthetic fiber that outperforms all other fibers.  It is the most resilient of all carpet materials that maintains its appearance and very durable.

When choosing for carpet flooring bear in mind that your carpet endures a lot, especially in heavy traffic areas like our client’s hallways.  It may be appealing to choose a carpet based only to the color, texture or price, but there are several other things to consider, especially if you want to maximize your flooring’s life and looks at a high–traffic area and it’s best to choose Olefin/PP or Nylon especially the loop pile one. Loop pile carpet whether made of Olefin/PP or Nylon can simply be modern, stylish and dramatic just like any other carpet because it’s also available in different color and pattern as well.
